HI John,
The Kenwood software is good and I have used it since I got my TH-F6A back
in 2001.
There are a few drawbacks in that software. It doesn't handle USB ports and
you must have a computer that handles serial ports. More modern machines
don't have serial ports. I know that you can buy a USB to serial adaptor
but from what I understand the performance and quality of those devices
widely vary. This performance ranges from full functionality to
problematical at best. When you plug in the Rat Systems USB cable and
install the software it just works with no problems at all.
The spread sheet like functionality in the Rat Systems software I feel is
even a better user experience than the Kenwood package.
Admittedly the Rat Systems app doesn't work with Jew or Window eyes but it
does work with NEVADA. The up side of this is NEVADA is free.
