I have used many standard cheap computer headsets on my kenwood ts2000,
elecraft k2, and kx3. The adapter is relatively simple.
Get the pinout of your mic plug from your manual.
Most computer headsets place the dc bias voltage for the electrette mic
element on the audio line. Therefore, place a blocking cap on the radio's
audio line, and run the bias voltage to the mic side of that cap.
I'll have to dig up an article I have on it.
Had a friend do the soldering, as those 8 pin round connectors are just to
small for me.
Do a google search on using a computer headset with the k2 or kenwood rigs
and there is lots of info.
Never had any complaints, and headsets are ten dollars or less.
Good luck.
