HI List,
I am sending this to the Blind Hams list--since I have gotten absolutely no
response from one of the better Blind Technical lists. Maybe if you read
this, you could conjecture that someone or something is actively preventing
me from solving the issue: read on!
As reported before on this list(the Blind Tech Mailing List), I have had
issues with sluggishness on my system for a few weeks now. I have done
various and sundry things such as: disc check; defragmentation; registry
clean; virus and spyware check--both with installed software, Microsoft
Security Essentials, Malware bytes as well as online programs and programs
run from a flash drive so as to prevent as much as possible interference
from some entrenched worm/Trojan. I have also tried updating drivers for
hardware and peripherals. The result has been that everything seems clean
and is up to date.
However, a new wrinkle has occurred just today (02/09 to 02/10). On 2
occasions, I have gotten a message from Microsoft Security Essentials as
follows:
Microsoft Security Essentials is no longer monitoring your system because
its service has stopped. Restart the service to provide continued
protection. I am then focused on a start service button. I click the start
service button and everything goes back to normal. In light of the issue
with sluggishness, I am wondering if there still might be some sort of
worm/Trojan/virus that is causing issues.
AS per order of others, here are my basic system specifications.

They ask me if I'm happy.
I say yes.
They ask me: "how happy are you?"
I say: "I'm as happy as a stowaway chimpanzee on a banana boat!"
