When I corresponded with Mike at Nutronics, he insisted I needed the 6BTV and it wouldn't work on the abandoned concreted fence post that's about 2 feet to the left of the top of my wooden stairwell and about 8 feet from the side of the house.
I was looking at the 4BTV but the Land Lord and Lady, who live upstairs, wouldn't hear of it.
