There is certainly no harm done to your system to have AVG anti virus scan
your system no matter how many times a day. You may find it quite fatiguing
waiting for the scan to complete. I know I would.
You need to schedule your scans and uncheck the box that allows scans at
startup.
I would tell you how to do this but I am using version 8 and the interface
is different now.
Now how often should you scan your system? You can set your own comfort
level. My comfort level is once a week. You may determine your comfort level
by how often the computer is online for the total number of computer users.
also
Make sure you are using a firewall
Make sure you are using an anti spy ware program like spy bot search and
destroy.
