Good questions. I wonder if the DAT file is a plain text file and if it is
easily updateable. If there is a command line tool and a set of commands,
then you have access to functions which you may not have by editing the dat
file. Intriguing, though!

isn't compiling and editing the dat file about the same as running a command
line program?
It's easy enough to grab the dat file from the radio and reupload it...those
are about the only accessible functions in the software lol.
Don't forget about the excel file option as well.
