Hi Russell,
I usually buy the Window-Eyes SMA, because the savings against the cost of
the individual upgrades is significant. As someone else said, if you don't
keep up-to-date, you end up paying to catch up, so you may as well get the
latest improvements when they become available!

I am not and never been a JAWS user. I know that not all upgrades count
against one's SMA, but it seems that jaws does major upgrades more
frequently than Window-eyes. I think both manufacturers gouge the customers
when it comes to upgrades especially if you don't purchase an SMA and don't
upgrade every time a new upgrade comes out.

And, I hate to get in an argument Russell, but your point is? You
apparently aren't a Jaws user, or you don't have Jaws set to inform you of
updates? Since the release of the first version of Jaws 14 last November,
there have been five releases that don't coount against your upgrade count.
There were similar releases for Jaws 13.
Both screen readers have their positive aspects. I do like the fact I can
bring Win-Eyes for for that matter, NVDA up in Safe Mode. I don't know if
Jaws will incorporate that in the Jaws 15 beta which they will have an
FsCast on this week. I do like the convenient OCR feature in Jaws which has
enabled me to install software that was previously inaccessible at least as
far as the installation was concerned.
