Steve:
To me, the real trick in all of this is trying to determine when to blow the
whistle, to whom, and under what conditions.
Often-times, you want to do so much more than is possible or practical, and
sometimes, you really find yourself in a position where you have to decide
between the strength of your convictions, and your own survival in the job
that you currently have.
Once again, I didn't deal with anything like our friend, Alan had to face,
but the dilemmas are still there and certainly contribute to a significant
part of the stress associated with any sort of a management position.
I am certainly thankful for the opportunity I had to try the administrative
side of university life, but am now very very glad to be going back to the
teaching side which is where my passion truly lies.
