If you like to use just PC control, I'm about to publish a review of the
ProSisTel rotator controller. I use this myself. The smallest PST rotor I
can find is the PST 641D and it is roughly similar in spec to the Yaesu
G800. Using the Vine Communication comparison table:
Rotation torque inch / lbs
PST 641D is 516
Yaesu G800 is 950
Braking torque inch / lbs
PST 641D is 4730
Yaesu G800 is 3450
It describes the PST as having ' Single worm drive motor direct final drive'
and the Yaesu as ' Gear Train only'.
The big PST rotors are truly massive, and looking at the figures, seem to
outperform the others by 2 or 3 times. Goodness knows if they're used by
amateurs <smile>. With one of the really big boys, I reckon you could turn
the house <smile>.
I think the PST rotors are marketed as Big Boy Rotors in the states, but I
would guess they probably cost more than the Yaesu's...

It sounds like the 800 would be enough for the hex beam I am thinking of
putting up here.
I have so little room for antennas that will be about all I can do.
I am presently using an all band vertical and I would like to have something
that will give me some directivity.
Yes, it sounds like that control box will work fine for me being blind as it
does for you.
