FYI,
Assistive Technology Alternative Financing Program Notice
Inviting Applications for New Awards for Fiscal Year 2012

Purpose of Program: Many individuals with disabilities do not
have the private financial resources to purchase the assistive
technology (AT) they need.. In addition, programs such as
Medicaid, Medicare, and vocational rehabilitation cannot meet the
growing demand for AT. Financial loan services, such as
alternative financing programs (AFPs), offer individuals with
disabilities affordable options that can significantly enhance
their access to AT. These programs offer alternatives to the
traditional payment options of public assistance and
out-of-pocket financing and maximize independence and
participation in society by individuals with disabilities through
the acquisition of AT.
