Yes, it is still Alt, T, W in Word 2010. If you don't want to mess with
routing the cursors, you can use the Insert + B command.

One more way to check the word count is by pressing Alt T, followed by the
letter W. Then route JAWS to PC and read the information. This is from
previous versions of word. HTH

It sounds like you figured out how to check the word count in word 2010.
I'll post the answer in case others have the same question.

There are two ways to check word count in word 2010:

1. If you're a Jaws user, press insert+page down. This reads the bottom line
of the screen, which tells you what page you're on and how many words your
document has.

2. With any screen reader, press F6 repeatedly until you get to the status
bar; then tab to Word Count and press enter. If you do this, you get a more
detailed word count (i.e., number of pages, paragraphs, lines, words,
characters with and without spaces, etc). I just did this and had to press
F6 twice and tab once. Generally, if you go into the status bar to check
Word count, focus is still on word count the next time you go into the
status bar.

Hope this helps.

Ciao
