The Amazon Echo is a stand-alone device that uses your Wi-Fi capability.

When you purchase it, you'll receive an email with set-up instructions.
When I set mine up in April, I found the online set-up to be somewhat
daunting. After downloading the app from the Apple store, this was
completely accessible and intuitive to set up.

The Echo operates by voice command. It will make shopping lists, set
appointments play music from various sources, and you can pear Bluetooth
devices like an iPhone to it to play music from the phone.

Hope this helps.

Subject: Re: [VICUG-L] Help Please, Amazon Echo

I wish someone would explain how this Echo thing works. Can someone do that?

Is this a device one connects to the PC or Mac and then to the TV? I
certainly don't mean someone needs to explain every aspect, but just what
the thing is and what it does, and how. Thanks.
