Hi Ana,
What I do in my win8 system is press the chort cut key ctrl+shift+n and it
will create the new folder. I hope this helps.

Subject: [VICUG-L] Creating New Folder in Windows Explorer
Hi All,
I often create new folders in my Documents folder because I like to organize
things, so I know how to create new folders. My question is really about how
to create them while using a screen reader.
To create a new folder, I go to the desktop, use first letter navigation to
get to the folder with my name and press enter, go to Documents and press
enter again. The next step is to press the context key, arrow up to the New
submenu, and choose Folder.
the problem is that this next step works only if I'm careful not to press
the arrow keys after I get to Documents. If I do either because I
accidentally bump the arrow keys or because I want to double-check that I
don't already have a folder of the same name, the New submenu doesn't appear
as an option. Of course, I know it appears only when focus is not on an
item. So I need to take focus off of where it is. So far, the only thing
that works is hitting backspace to exit the current folder, then coming back
into it to create the new folder.
When I'm in a folder, how do I take focus off an item so I can press the
right Windows key and access the New submenu?
I've tried pressing the spacebar with both Jaws and NVDA, but that doesn't
do it.
Any advice? I'm using Windows 8.1, Jaws 15, and NVDA 2014.4. I'm pretty sure
I had this problem in Windows 7 as well, but I can't swear on a stack of
bibles.
Ciao
