Microsoft is transitioning from Security essentials to Defender. It is
primarily a name change as they own both products. In practice, it means
nothing.

They will market Defender for Windows 8 going forward.

I don't post often, in fact, maybe only twice while I've been on this
list. I recently read that Microsoft is not endorsing MSE as actively as
it once did. It seems that it is not as protective as it once was.
Anyone else hear anything like this? If not maybe I read wrong.

Microsoft Security Essentials. Accessible, easy to use, doesn't slow your
machine, updates itself without bothering you.

I'm looking for an accessible free anti virus program. I've heard a v g's
new version is not accessible. Any recommendations for a very non-techy
person?
