It's been a while, but I myself have never had a lot of success with JFW 
and Open Office, so I'd also be interested in any success stories anyone 
has had with this combination.

I have had more luck with JFW and Symphony than I have with Open Office, 
although the current Symphony 3 Beta needs some work to be as accessible 
as Symphony 1.3.

In addition to JFW and Screen Access, have you also considered NVDA?
