Yes, it can raise LDL. But LDL has multiple components, some good 
(large bouyant) and some bad (small, dense). If someone on a low carb 
diet pays for and gets a VAP test where all the components are 
measured, they will find that that their LDL is predominately the good LDL.

One can predict whether the LDL is mostly good or bad by looking at 
the HDL and triglycerides. If the HDL number is greater than the TG, 
or about the same as, the LDL will mostly be good (large bouyant).
