Hi Steve and Howard,
It is a normal developmental thing for kids to imitate those around them. When they think something is normal they just want to try it.
If you had scolded your child the child would have thought that there was something wrong with using a cane and having her other hand covering her eye.
Did you ever notice that kids like to play with canes like they are mopping or running the sweeper.
That's why we buy children things like play stoves, refrigerators, doll houses, etc.
People should be very happy that children want to imitate them and that children feel that the activity is normal and worth imitating.
The world of imagination and curiosity of a child is so heartwarming.
