Well, my 1625 rig was a home brew built by an old timer for me.
He used my novice rig, a Heath AT1 as the exciter and modulated the final
with another pair of 1625s.
You can be sure, I had plenty of modulation!
Since the AT1 was crystal controlled, I use a Heath kit VFO, which was not
very stable above 20 meters to say the least!
The whole transmitter was in a rack about 45 inches tall and took two and a
boy to lift it, even though it was on rollers.
It was built out of surplus items and had 6 power supplies in it!
I sure had a lot of fun with that rig on AM and CW.
In fact, I have a picture of that station hanging over my modern station
right now including the National NC98 receiver and speaker.
Yes, those were the days!
Just to think that the TS590 can do so very very much more than that was
ever thought possible back then!
59 years makes a very big difference to say the least!
Its fun to look back and see the steps of progress!
