Here is what I think is going on, and I wouldn't swear to it.
Windows 7 sound cards often discourage you from recording streaming audio. 
Given that, what to do is to get a 1/8 inch double female to single male 
cord.
One side goes to your external speakers, and the other to your transmitter.
That should do it.
