Hi Tom,

I use an Icom transceiver, and an external 'button' box can be built to send
the recorded SSB or CW messages. My box has 4 buttons and sits beside the
radio. Like you I would find it difficult to find and press the correct
button on the front panel, but I always press button 1 to send my call, and
record the other slots as needed.

I'm wondering if Kenwoods can handle an external method of sending
recordings in a similar way.

Best wishes, Kelvin Marsh - M0AID

Howard:

Yes, you're right. You can record directly with the VGS1, but I have found
that to be a bit impractical since you have to push the right button on the
front panel for the particular contest exchange you need at any given time,
and that could be subject to error. I could program one of the PF keys (say

PF A) to access the first TS590 record memory slot, but that only gives me
one exchange possibility, and I may need more.

It's a possible work-around, though, if I can't get something else to work
effectively between the laptop and TS590.
