mine is 132 feet long, 44 feet and 88 feet.
It also has the 24 foot vertical radiator connected to a 4 to 1 balun at the
feed point, and a coaxial choke where the feedline connects to the vertical
radiator.
I have the balun feed point at about 30 feet, with both ends going down to
15 feet or so. The two legs are 90 degrees to each other. The long leg
goes east west, and the short leg goes north south.
I've got nulls for sure, but the antenna works reasonably well, especially
for dx over the poll and south america.
I've found the windom, this version anyway, is very forgiving in it's
current configuration. I do have between a 1.5 to 2.5 to 1 swr almost
everywhere, but the internal antenna tuner takes care of it nicely.
the lowest swr is actually on 6 meters, and the antenna seems to work
extremely well on 6 meters.
It's certainly a compremise on all bands being a multi-band antenna, but it
does a good job. the vertical radiator gives it a bit more gain and helps
with the odd ball patern when the antenna isn't configured in the optimal
way.
they recommend that it be at least 20 meters high, and in a flat straight
configuration for best performance.
no doubt, but I'm happy with it.
thanks Pat hi hi.
So, essentially, I'm doing everything wrong with this antennas
configuration, but it works.
it's no 3 element beam on 20, but I would say it works as well as any mono
band dipole if not slightly better.
