Greetings, this is AC4HM, Ron Milliman.  I am new to this list, but I am an
old ham.  I earned my first ham ticket way back in 1957 as KN8HSY.
However, I have moved around a bit, and in the earlier days of ham radio,
when you moved from one call district to another, you were required to
apply for a new call that represented the different call district.  Thus,
when I moved from Michigan to Arizona to attend Arizona State University, I
became W7GPF; when I moved to Texas to begin my university teaching career
at the University of Texas, I became N5UVL; then, when I moved over to
Kentucky to teach at Western Kentucky University, I became N5GSY, until I
earned my Extra class license and became AC4HM.  I never really liked
AC4HM, and as of this morning, I applied to get my old, original call back
of K8HSY.  Since that was my first call, it has always had very special
memories for me.  

Curt, I wish you the best of luck in getting the vanity call you requested.
 I would think that wouldn't be any problem.  Actually, I found the online
process for applying for a vanity call to be pretty easy.  So, if anyone
else is seriously thinking about it, you should not have any trouble with
the online procedure, providing you have your FCC Registration Number (FRN)
and password.  If you don't have one, you will need to apply for one.
