Howard,

Something doesn't sound quite right about that supply.  Are you sure it's 
putting out the correct voltage?  Also, if those other radios weren't even 
on, maybe you've got some partial shorts in some of your cables.  Either 
that, or you've got some partially open power cables which are causing 
voltage variations.  The bottom line: I don't think you've solved the 
problem yet.
