you can get allot of distortion if the AGC is turned off.
press function and the 8 key to turn it on again.
Press just the 8 key without the function, and use the multi-select knob to
adjust from slow to fast in 20 steps.
Also, turn off any noise reduction that might be turned on.
The noise reduction is controlled with the 3 buttons to the left of the main
keypad.
The top two are the main NR function controls.
I believe the bottom is noise blanker, also turn that off.
let us know if toggling the AGC fixes the problem.
If you read the manual, it tells you how to do a partial, and full reset
near the end.
Just search reset in the document and it should find something for you.
I believe turning the radio on while holding down the A slash B key does a
partial reset, and turning the rig on while holding down the A equals B key
does a full reset.
Bear in mind, when you do a reset like this, you must press that same key
after the rig clicks on to confirm you want to do the reset.
A slash B will reset VFO a and B, mic, power, NR, AGC and a few other
random settings...it doesn't reset menus to default, or memories.
Using the A equals B key resets everything in the radio back to factory
default.
I'm sorry if I have the key sequence off, you may have to press both the A
slash B and A equals B buttons while turning the rig on for the full reset.
I haven't done it in a while so i don't recall precisely.
Again, search reset with your find command in the manual document and you'll
find the right info.
let us know what works.
