nope, no speech on that particular anytone at588UV mobile.
I'm working on the manual for that radio; converting it to text and 
reformatting.
But fear not, it's still in the testing stage and from what Ed at Import 
communications says, the manufacturer is actually quite good at quickly 
fixing bugs.  Which would lead me to believe they can probably add something 
like voice prompts quickly and without too much difficulty either on this 
version or later ones.
So, either the first release, or subsequent versions of the anytone mobile 
might have voice output of one kind or another.
It's still a pretty good price for a dual band 50W mobile with a removable 
head and cross band repeat even without speech output.
BTW, it's not shipping yet, and likely won't be until the end of October.
There is some big chinese electronics convention that is happening first, 
and then it'll be supposedly ready to ship in quantity.
