Hi David, and All,

Actually, I just spoke with Matt & he said there was a slight
misunderstanding, and that they were only able to reimburse for local
travel, not nationally.

Strive On!
Everett

Subject: [VICUG-L] This impacts us all: Seeking participants for project on
making American paper money accessible for the blind

Hi all,

Please read the message below carefully and respond appropriately.
Thanks!

I am a researcher at Westat, a firm in Rockville, Maryland. We are
currently working with Lighthouse International on a contract from the
United States Bureau of Engraving and Printing. We are testing prototypes
of American paper money that has tactile cues so that blind people can
distinguish the value of the bills.

We are seeking participants for this project.

Participation takes ninety minutes. During the ninety minutes, we ask the
participants to feel the tactile cues on the bills and tell us what they
feel.

We are giving participants fifty dollars as a thank you. We will also
reimburse participants for travel to and from Rockville.

Participants must be blind to the extent that they cannot distinguish the
value of existing American paper money by looking at it.

We are running the participants from November 28 to December 5.

If you are interested, or know others who may be interested, please email
Matthew Bernstein at [log in to unmask] or call him at (301)
294-2896.

Thank you,

Sid J. Schneider, Ph.D.
