Tom,
A noise bridge will null as you approach a 1:1 Swr. It doesn't require you
to transmit a signal at all.
The Atom is just a device which reads Max output from the Xmitter. It
requires you to transmit and you basically tune for maximum output, or
smoke.
The old Conway tuning aid was a voltage-controlled oscillator you could hook
across any meter to read its output.

Butch or anyone:
I know this will be elementary for some, but can someone give me a little
tutorial on the difference between a tuning aid like Adam, and a noise
bridge?
I have never used a noise bridge, like the Victronics or MFJ, and wonder how
they work in comparison to a tuning aid like the Adam or the one Handihams
used to sell.
Just a little lacking in knowledge here.
