Sometimes after we go out to eat, we go by a convenience store and I get a 
cigar to smoke here at home.  My wife, who's sighted, told me that once she 
was sitting in the car while I went in to get my cigar, and she got a bunch 
of dirty looks from folks who thought she was heartless for letting this 
blind man go in the store alone!

We joke about that from time to time.
