My watch updates regularly unless I'm on a boat or if it's too
close to my c pap machine.

Subject: Atomic Watch Is No Longer Radio Active.

I have one of the Atomic Talking Watches that updates
itself via WWVB at 60 KHZ or at least it did until about a week
ago.

It otherwise seems to be working. Is anybody else who
has one of these watches having any trouble with it? The button
that lets you set the alarm, etc, is supposed to say, "U S A updated"
but now it always reports "U S A not updated."

On September 4-6, NIST briefly conducted some tests of a
new type of modulation system which may be used one day, but
they appear to be back to normal now.

The watch actually does its update procedure starting
around 3 in the morning and retries at 4, 5 and 6 until it gets
a good reading. It is trying each time, but no longer receiving a
setting from Ft. Collins.

What do these watches do when the battery starts to run
down? I've had this one for about 18 months and have been pretty
nice to it as in not dropped it or gotten it wet.

It doesn't sound funny yet but it sure isn't getting
WWVB any more.

If nobody else is having trouble with their atomic
watch, then this one has probably had a partial melt-down. If
others are having trouble, then there may be something about the
signal now that is confusing the receiver.

Thanks.
