The next meeting of GIG of Central and South Texas (GIG CSTX) in Austin is scheduled for 7 pm on October 17th at Faith Lutheran Church 6600 Woodrow Ave.

Our topic for the evening will be “How to Survive the Holidays Gluten Free” and is intended to help you prepare for and get through the holiday season. This will be a pot luck dinner with a holiday theme. Bring a dish to share that is one of your holiday favorites. And that is a favorite from any one of the fall and winter holidays. While we are eating we will have a round table discussion where we will share tips on staying gluten free at holiday parties, dinners and with family. We will also share holiday recipes, so please come with several recipes in hand and copies of those recipes to share.

Since this is a Wednesday night and no one is likely to spend 3 hours roasting a turkey, this is not really a holiday dinner but a pot luck with holiday themed foods. Remember this is intended as a meal. We need appetizers, main dishes, sides and desserts. Please be creative.

It is important that included with each dish is a listing of ingredients. Some of our members need to avoid more than just gluten. If the recipe is either original or has been changed at least 3 times, please bring the recipe. We can publish these recipes in the recipe exchange section of our monthly newsletter.

If you have any questions about the meeting or need information on the location, please contact Francie Kelley at [log in to unmask] or (512) 301-2224. For more information about GIG CSTX please visit our Web site www.gigcstx.org.
