You will need a new IDE controller, one that supports EIDE. The original
IDE spec recognized drives only up to about 520MB in size; apparently this
is what you have. If the controller is on the motherboard, you may be able
to disable it and plug in an EIDE card; otherwise just yank the old
controller card and pop in a new one. Multi-function EIDE controller cards
(hd, floppy, etc.) are pretty cheap.
You may also need to update the computer's BIOS so that it recognizes the
larger drives.
