Hello,
WPT is showing the documentary DuSable to Obama: Chicago's Black Metropolis on Monday, May 16th at 7PM. This film was produced and directed by my friend Barbara Allen, a filmmaker in Chicago who also works for the public television station in Chicago, WTTW.
The film was show in competition earlier this year at FESPACO, in Burkina Faso and was in the African Disapora category. Although she did not win, she was honored to be in the competition with filmmakers such as Raoul Peck and others. Barbara and I were together in Ouagadougou for the screeing there, and it was well received by the people there.
It is an excellent film so don't miss it. It will air a few other times on WPT, check the listings.
Also, I hope you all have been wathing Professor Henry Louis Gates series , Black in Latin America. It is really good.
Have a great day!
Rakina
