Hi, I just got one two days ago. The bands have been so bad and
the weather here as well that I haven't tried it yet. It's
simple. The one I got is the 13 foot version which is a
telescopic whip consisting of seven sections, a 20 foot coax with
a matchbox on one end and a coax connector on the other end that
plugs into the bottom of the whip. The last thing included is a
mounting bracket so you can put the whip on a mast. The
interesting thing is that the threads on the whip also fit the
mounting hardware that I got with the MP1 antenna so I can use
the flat bracket and clamp to mount the Alpha 1 whip on a table
or railing. Hope to try the antenna later today. Jim WA6EKS

 I wonder if it will only take 10 watts or less?

  Hi Danny, The matchbox is included with 20 feet of coax that =
 you=3D3D20
  attach of the bottom of the whip. Then you nethe an =
 additional=3D3D20
  20 or 25 feet of coax to go from the matchbox to your rig.
=3D3D20
  Evidently, there is no tuning involved like sliding coils etc.
=
 =3D3D20
  The whip is 13 feet long but I understand they make
other=3D3D20
  versions with longer whips. The one I am talking about,
The=3D3D20
  Alpha 1, can handle a 45 MPH wind load, so I guess you
could=3D3D20
  manually retract it if the wind came up. The place is in MO.
=
 =3D3D20
  and the number is 888 482-3249 for the Alpha 1 antenna. =

  Hi Jim, thanks for the note. Never heard of that antenna, =
 but=3D3D20
  wonder if the
  match box mentioned is with it, and or if whatever mast =
 necessary=3D3D20
  is also
  included? I'll see if I can find it on the net. Thanks,
Danny.

   Hi Danny, have you ever heard of the Alpha 1 antenna? It's a
13
   foot telescopic whip that you mount on a mast, no radials
   required, just a 20 foot run of coax from the antenna to a
   matchbox, then another short run from the matchbox to the rig.
   It's on sale for $99 this month from somewhere in Kentucky, I
   think called the Radio Mart. Normally sells for $199 and is
   supposed to be good from 75 meters through 6. Sounds too =
 good=3D3D20
  to
   be true but a local friend of mine got one and is trying it
out.
   I've talked to him but don't have much information yet. Jem
