Does your radio have an internal loopstick?  This radio has a am loop you 
connect to the back of the radio.  I would be interested in knowing how an 
antenna such as the Twin Coil Ferrite would work in place of the supplied am 
loop.

First of all I have to say I don't have one of these so my comments may
or may not apply.

I do have an hd radio however and have tried using active loop antennas
with it with no success.

The main reason for this is that if the loop is a good one the q is
really to high for the  purpose of receiving AM HD.

Because an AM signla wit hhd is wider the sidebands will be somewhat
supressed by the loop  causing the undesired effect of making the hd
portion of the signal much weaker and the analog portion stronger.

You don't usually see selectivity specs published or at least I haven't
and probably one of  the reasons for this is that the filtering in some
of these radios is done with software filters so the bandwith of the
filter changes on the fly as appripriate determined by the radio in its
efforts to lock on to the signal and decode the hd data.

I have the old discontinued Boston Acoustics hd radio and I like it.

None of them seem to appear very sensitive but frankly I am not quite
sure how true that really is.

I do find myself wishing I could tweak the receiver settings sometimes
but that is not possible.
