I liked to do FM broadcast dx. I haven't had any sporadic E openings in a
few years now.

Hi all,
Well folks, I have 3 examples:
1. In July of 1979, one Tuesday morning, at about 11:30, I have the TV =
on in the livingroom, (I lived up in the northern part of Michigan).
I was tuning through the tv channels, and what do ya know, but channel 3 =
comes in, and we didn't even have a channel 3!
Then, it said, that it was channel 3 TV in Jaxon, Mississippi!
Needless to say, I was absolutely thrilled! I sure had alot to tell my =
friend Brian, who is on this list, N8MNX, who came down to see me, that =
same Tuesday, and I bet you remember that, huh Brian?
2. Also, on that same Tuesday, at night, about 8:15Pm, I turned on my =
hw8 qrp rig, and 15 meters was going bananas! I worked a 3 station, just =
blasting in, and I worked and heard 1s, 2s, 4s, 5s, 6s, 7s, 8s, 9s, and =
0s, just blasting in.
3. Now in 1991, on a hot July summer day in Kalamazoo, Michigan, I was =
listening on my fm radio, just thought I'd turn it on and see what kind =
of songs were on that I could sing along with. Oh my what a surprise! No =
matter where I went on FM, there were stations, blasting in from Tx.! I =
didn't have any 2 meter hts or anything at that time, but I remember =
thinking, "I wish I had an ht right now!"

Do you know if all the analog VHF TV in Canada has gone
off the air yet? I remember reading last Summer that a few
channels were going to remain analog after August 31 of 2011 but
I didn't know for how long.

We would sometimes get Canadian TV here in the middle of
the US via Sporadic E and it just depended upon where the E
cloud was. Sometimes, it would be Quebec and other times
Vancouver, BC. This became easier after July of 2009 when all
the US analogs vacated Channels 2-6 but even before that, I
remember hearing a Channel 3 out of Montrialle as they had a
hocky match and then news and then French. The Vancouver station
  was all in English.

One evening in the mid eighties, I was tuning around
Channel 3 and heard a football game just as clear and strong as
if it was right here. It was odd because it was July and except
for a few exhibition games, you don't get football until Autumn.

It all cleared up, however, when an announcer said
during a commercial, "You're watching CFL on CBC." It just
happened to be unusually good Sporadic E. Some minutes later, it
  vanished completely.
