Hi All,

Below is the note I sent to our club vice president.

Many of you knew Dennis from the Chicago area and various bending and ACB
conventions. He had been in failing health for the past several years.

I'm sorry to have to bring you this unhappy news.

John,

Paul just called me and said Dennis Mejia, W9RRX, (formerly W9AJI), ,
passed away this evening at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville at 5:10
p.m.. It was quick and peaceful. I don't know anything else right now.
I'm assuming he will be burried here in Highland beside his wife who
preceeded him in death back in June of 1994.

His absolute first love was ham radio. He felt so privileged to have a ham
license. The 15 meter band was his favorite place to hang out, and he loved
proving that he could break through the biggest pileups! . He had not been
on the radio for the past four years due to failing memory. Up until that
time he had been a supporting member of the Okaw Valley Amateur Radio Club.
Although he was not very active with the club, he felt it was important and
was always glad I was an active member.

This is all just off the top of my head but I think I've covered all the
important info. Please notify the club members as several people did know
Dennis.

If I have omitted anything let me know.

Kris
