Great Explanation!  The only thing that I'd like to add is that even though 
the Vectronics VEC512 has a bypass circuit in it, always remember to turn it 
off before transmitting.  I've messed up a few times and no damage, but the 
relay in the noise bridge is very small and won't take much abuse, but its 
better than a fuse you'll have to replace every time you transmit by 
accident.
