Subject: Re: Quick Review of Insignia Hd Radio, Not Very Good

I experienced a similar issue with my Insignia. We had a power outage last
night. I had the radio plugged in with battery backup.

When the power came back on, the radio was inoperative. The only way I got
it working again was to disconnect it, take the backup batteries out, then
put the batteries back in and reconnect the electrical power. I didn't
think of trying the reset button first.

That kind of shoots the time and alarm settings all to heck, which is the
reason for the backup in the first place.

Interestingly, I tried the reset procedure today without battery backup, it
erased the time setting but it preserved the alarm setting.

As far as tuner performance, the only tabletop radio that I can compare it
with is the Bose Wave. The Bose is not connected to an antenna.
Sensitivity on Fm is slightly better on the Bose throughout the whole band,
although the Insignia seems more sensitive at the upper end of the band than
the lower end. I don't know whether there is something in the Insignia's
filtering, or possibly some IM issues. All the local stations here
broadcast at 101.7 or lower.

I noted some intermod issues at around 96.7MHz. This is very likely an
image mixing of a couple stations. This is common in my location,
particularly for tuner sections of good or less quality. I also noted some
intermod at 93.3MHz, which I haven't noted on other tuners. It wasn't
significant and could be alleviated by changing the antenna orientation.
