Hi everyone,

A good ham friend of mine is contemplating selling two of his three Kenwood
TM-V7A radios. These are 2-meter/70-centimeter mobile rigs which originally
sold for about $700. I suspect a lot of you know more about them than i do.
I've wanted to get one for a long time but I had the "little brother" of
this radio, the TMG707A. The TM-V7A differs from the TMG707A in some ways,
most importantly in that the TM-V7A has dual receive capabilities. Both of
the units he wants to sell include the speech synthesizer board installed.
they are in good condition but have been used as mobile rigs and, have
suffered the deterioration of their displays for which these radios are
known when used in mobile installations. the displays are difficult to read
now in sunlight or bright ambient light found in vehicles. They can still be
read but one must play with the contrast. Before he does a lot of research
regarding price for these rigs, I'm posting an informal question to the
list: would anybody (anyboddies) be interested in purchasing one of these
rigs? If there's no interest at all, I'm going to let him know so he can
either not bother researching, or, maybe find local sighted hams to buy. I
guess my thinking is I'd like to give the community of blind hams first
crack at these accessible, dual band rigs and my friend doesn't know about
this list, so they would not be listed here otherwise.

Okay, long enough ramble. Let me know what you all think.

the EHam.net reviews of this rig can be found at:

Kenwood's info page about the rig is at:

Finally, there's an extensive amount of information specifically tailored to
the blind ham at the I Can Work this Thing site:
