few minutes with Google. This is what I turned up.





Kenwood announces the TS-990S in Tokyo

Kenwood is releasing a new top end rig in the heritage of TS-950SDX, the
TS-990S. It will be a full year, according to Kenwood, before the TS-990S
will be available in the USA.

We will post more information on the Kenwood TS-990S as it becomes
available.

There is still very little known about the yet-unreleased,
highly-anticipated Kenwood TS-990S HF transceiver, but we’ve confirmed just
a few details from a contact at Kenwood…

Size:

The TS-990S will be the size of theTS-950SDX 200 watts, and have a similar
footprint.

Price:

The TS-990S is expected to retail in the $5,000-6,000 US range.

Availability:

No promises on ship dates yet…but they have confirmed that the new rig will
be on display at the 2012 Dayton, Ohio, Hamvention.

To be clear, Kenwood did not confirm the model number of TS-990S; it was
implied.

It is expected that the new Kenwood JVC “TS990″ will be shown in Dayton
Hamvention in May 2012. Earlier Kenwood JVC announced (August 27th 2011) at
the JARL Ham Fair in Tokyo Japan a successor to the TS-950SDX. This new
model is tentatively scheduled to be released in the later half of 2012.

Estimate price is in the range from 5000 to 6000 USD. The new transceiver
will be roughly the same size as the “TS950SDX”. Transmitter power output
is 200 watts. All HF + 50 MHz Bands.

I will try to post early photos from Dayton.

P.S. By the way. It’s not for sure that this transceiver will be called as
“TS990″ …
