A friend of mine (also on this list, K8LR) uses the Yaesu rotors.  He 
removed the glass cover and says he can read the direction by touching the 
needle much as we read a Braille watch.

I'm going to get that rotor next time, instead of repairing my Ham-SP, I 
think, because it is simpler to hook up.  They have several models, 
depending on how much windload you need it to turn.
