Tom,
To get JAWS to use a specific sound card, you need to go to go to the
Utilities Menu in Jaws and select the Sound Cards sub-menu. Once there, you
can select the card you want from the drop-down list of sound cards on your
machine. By default, JAWS uses the default sound device, which is not
actually a sound card, but rather whichever card Windows picks as its
default device for delivering sound. In most cases, the default sound
device and your sound card are the same, but if, for example, you were to
plug in a USB sound card, it would become the default sound device until you
removed it, at which point your primary sound card would take over. Once
you've picked a sound card for JAWS, it will use that card regardless of
what the default sound device happens to be.
