Hello List Mates,
Since I posted news about the recall this a.m., I have learned that the issue here is not as a result as a “hidden sources” . According to the Applegate website, it was a case of mislabeling. To me (and I bet a majority of the GF community) this type of human error is a much larger offense.
From the official statement on their website: Why is Applegate issuing a recall?
The identified batch of Gluten-Free Chicken Nuggets was mislabeled and may contain gluten.

Reminds me again that certifications are simply not enough. In a shared facility on-going and consistent training and supervision are key to keeping GF products safe.

Want to let them know how we feel? ask.applegate.com

Sincerely,
Deb Wheaton
