CSA South Jersey #9 - Meeting Sunday January 6th, 2013

The holiday season is over. The candles are put away, the Christmas tree is at the curb, and it’s cold and snowy so you know what that means? GETAWAY!

Our speaking guest this Sunday January 6th from 2-4 PM will be Bob Levy from “Bob & Ruth’s Gluten Free Travels” ( http://www.bobandruths.com )

Bob will be talking about how to eat safely when traveling and to enjoy a trip while needing to dine gluten free. This will be a great meeting to attend if you plan to travel at any time in the future so please see about coming to the group on Sunday! (I just returned from South Florida so I know I’M ready to getaway again soon and will be looking for ideas!)

(At the end of this email is a recent announcement I received from Bob & Ruth about an upcoming getaway in June....)

A promising bit of science was recently discovered that may lead to a breakthrough in detecting gliadin in our food. I will over-simplify it by saying that they found a way to “see” gliadin in food by “photography”. Scientists at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain found a way to “take a picture” of food to detect gliadin.

“Researchers in the Sensors and Biosensors Group at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Spain, have taken advantage of Tecan’s Sunrise™ absorbance reader and Magellan™ V4.0 software to establish a novel magneto-ELISA for gliadin, a constituent of the cereal protein gluten important in Celiac disease, based on optical detection.”

Hope Church 700 Cooper Road
Voorhees, NJ 08043

There is an entrance on Cooper as well as from Centennial Blvd. If you made a right turn from where we met at Barry Brown ( Carnie Blvd.) onto Evesham Road, Cooper Road is the first intersection - you would turn right at the traffic light onto Cooper. You go down about a quarter of a mile and will see the intersection for Centennial Blvd. You can continue straight on Cooper and you will see the entrance for Hope Church on your left, immediately after the Hope Church sign.

This email is being sent Blind Carbon Copy to members and friends of CSA South Jersey #9. If you would like to be included in these emails or have a new email address, send me a request please!
