Back when this list was set up in May 1997, the only paleo book out
there was Ray Audette's Neanderthin. The list was set up to support
people following the diet described in that book. Ray believes that
to be paleo the food should be edible raw, and all you need is a
stick to obtain it.

If anyone here has not read Neanderthin, I recommend picking up a
copy. You can buy a Kindle edition, or for a few bucks you can buy a
used copy of the mass market edition.

Ray, of course, makes a little if you buy the Kindle. And nothing if
you buy it used.
