Chris,
I purchased a new laptop about a month ago. I use Windows 7 (64 Bit) with
JAWS 11 and I have not had any problems.

These are just my opinions.
First, which you probably already know, all systems are 64-bit. The question
is whether you get 32-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 7.
I don't think there are many major issues with JFW and 64-bit Windows 7, but
I have heard of a few grumblings with respect to JAWS scripting. I'd expect
these issues to be resolved though, and this wouldn't keep me from going to
64-bit Windows 7.
The big advantage to 64-bit OS is access to large amounts of data.
Unfortunately, not many applications take advantage of this yet. For
example, I think MS is now only releasing 64-bit versions of MS Office. Even
with 64-bit applications, it's probably pretty unlikely that people were
hitting out of memory errors with their current 32-bit applications. This
will all change over time as more applications come out with 64-bit versions
and people want to do more and more memory demanding things with their PC's.
I'd go with a 64-bit Windows 7 myself mostly just to future proof my system,
but I doubt a home PC user will regret a 32-bit Windows 7 any time soon.

Subject: [VICUG-L] Some windows 7 questions
Hi List.
I'm finally going to take the plunge, and am in the process of seeking out a
new lap top with windows 7. I use jaws 11. When looking for a pc, is there
any advantage in purchasing 64 over 32 bit? Are there any issues I should be
aware of regarding software etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
