Howard and all,
I am very very new at all this tech stuff, so please pardon any repeated
questions.
1. do I have to wait till my callsign shows in the fcc's database to just
install echo link? Cause I can just listen.
2. I have a wireless router and its not a secured router, I have no idea how
to set ports. Do the q and a refer to this?
3. When echo link is up and running and I find the frequency, I have a
regular mike and I have headphones, how does one speak in the mike-do you
just hit the spacebar or what.
4. I know I can read the documentation on echo link, which I will do, but I
enjoy listening to all of your suggestions. LOL!
Ok, I have downloaded all the general lectures and other materials.
It looks a bit more difficult than the technician studies. Haa haa.
Should I be scared?? LOL! I think I am a little bit.
I will wait a few days to start studying as I will need to learn to set up
my wouxun when I order it from ed.
Another thing I am thinking about is it has been a very long time since I
have keyed a mike.
I am a bit nervous. Simply because I want to do the right thing.
I know that I can do it, however, being able to hear another person's
callsigns will be kind of hard unless they use phonetics.
I love phonetics as they really help.
Junior Lowly, I have started listening to the Farnsworth code method, it
will take me a long time to learn, but I believe I will have fun learning it
even if it does take me a year or longer.
It will take me and the implants time for this.
Well enough of my ramblings.
Don't forget to spring forward the clock (those in the US).
Hugs and 73
