I don't mean to be picky here but first, this has nothing at all to do  
with jaws or jaws 10 for that matter.  It has everything to do with  
how you have message conposition configured.  For me, links show up as  
links in the composition window as soon as I drop or type them in.

To say it another way; The text for the link is there but it want  
become active until it arrives in the recipient's inbox.
