yep, agreed.
the smith kettlewell technical articles are really very good...there should
be about 7 soldering articles availible.
They are written for, and by blind people.
I haven't used the soldering tube yet, mostly because I don't have a nice
work area set up with vice and clamps to hold stuff.
I solder completely free hand which takes allot of practice and patients.
I also use a 30W iron for everything, which means one has to get used to how
quickly the solder melts and how much time you can keep the tip of the iron
on a component before it begins to melt the plastic around it lol.
I also have a battery operated small tipped iron for finer work...I use that
one less because I'm inpatient and I'm rather used to my bigger hotter iron.
Solder size is also important because you want it to melt and only put as
much solder as you need to make a good solid connection without blobbing
solder everywhere, and conversely, without having it melt too quickly with
the hotter iron and flow improperly.
I'm no expert though, and the technical files explain all this much better
that I.
