Good reading all the ideas here.

Can someone suggest: What wattage of iron or gun is best to use on various
types of jobs, i.e., 1) replacing a component on a pc board, 2) connecting
to the terminals on a mini toggle switch, 3) connecting to the base of a
4-400 type tube socket, 4) soldering a western union type splice in antenna
wire, or 5) CoAx connectors--pl-259?

Also, can someone describe a technique for tinning the end of a
multi-stranded wire?

Thanks, Anybody.
